Parental leave - the basics
We use ‘parental leave’ as an inclusive term that covers maternity, paternity, adoption and surrogacy - because families come in all forms, and language matters. We’ll always check in on how you’d like to be referred to, and tailor our comms to suit.
There are two types of leave you might take:
- Parental leave - for the primary caregiver: the person who’ll spend the majority of time caring for the baby
- Partner leave - for the supporting partner: giving time and financial support to be present during those precious early weeks
